The hiatus is over: Being happy and Partying in the L-E-S

It has been a while since I added some new content. Trying to balance the daily grind of working in finance with other things such as having a life is tough at times- but hey- no one's perfect.
With that being said, when you do get time away from your desk, remember what is important to you and use your time accordingly. . .

Me, I like to party with my friends. And to me, there's no better place to do this than the Lower East Side.

Given the growing popularity of the HBO show "How to Make it in America", the LES is becoming more and more trendy. The venues are pretty great too, and span from grungy dive bar to exclusive dance club. It is not as expensive or flashy as meatpacking either- you get the sense that everyone who's trying to prove something stays on the other side of town. Girls are more down to earth than at the upper east side bars, yet they are usually decked out in their Saturday night's (Sunday morning's) best. Its a great place for young people to party.

Below I've highlighted a couple of my favorite spots:

Los Feliz:

  • Great DJ and dance floor in the basement
  • Amazing margaritas and tequila selection
  • Always a good looking crowd
  • Negatives- Sometimes crowded
Libation:
  • Huge Dance floor
  • Amazing Bartenders who often do tricks and always are speedy
  • Good mix of young professionals and the ones I refer to as "trendy"
  • Negatives: Cover and sometimes a weird crowd will be there
Other places to check out: Pianos and Hotel Chantel

Just like all other trends, I don't foresee the Lower East Side being the most "in" place to party forever, so live it up for now and come back to the site for some more recommendations and the heads up for when the trend gets the axe.
